Project - Order Import Speed Project
The company processed end-customer orders via different Marketplaces, with each requiring orders to be processed within a specified time-span. The orders were imported via a timed ERP Script, with the ERP having a limit on the number of scripts that could be run at any given time. If orders were not processed within a specified time-frame then the company could be subjected to late fees. Of course, lates generated negative customer reviews which required mitigation by the customer satisfaction team. Lates also strained order processing and shipping departments.Goal: Reduce order entry time spends and eliminating late fines, freeing up internal staff and improving customer satisfaction
The Development Team reduced the order import time overhead (average) from over 30 seconds to less than 15 seconds. This helped to:
- eliminate lates and eliminate fines
- ensure all orders were imported on the same day they were created
- increase customer satisfaction by speeding shipping
- decrease incoming call volumes and time spends reacting to negative comments posted on marketplaces
- enable the ERP to run more scripts, increasing productivity and generate revenue
- improve the ability to schedule resources in the order processing and shipping departments
