Project - Modernization of High Level Business Process Diagrams and Standard Operating Procedures

All of the low level process flows (Standard Operating Procedures) were fully documented - but no overviews had been constructed. As managers could not interact with other department's members without express permission from Executive Management, it was impossible to determine what documents and data were being processed and which department was later referring to this information.

As well, the Process Analyst agreed to my idea of using video's to help describe data processing efforts rather than overlaying step by step procedures over screen captures, and noticed the benefits of using MS Visio as opposed to using MS PowerPoint in generating process flows.  The Process Analyst and I prototyped an improved vision using MS Visio and a video capturing tool.

Combining these ideas, in this new system you would be able to view business processing flows from the highest levels through to the most detailed level, and watch a video sample of work to be performed and review sample documents.  This vision reduced the Process Analyst's time spends creating work flows and describing work efforts while allowing a high-level review of information.

Goals:

I worked with the Business Process Analyst to secure approvals for this higher level documentation to be established, with the added intention of ensuring that any third-party ERP integrations would also be incorporated enabling the ERP team to quickly identify business processes that would be impacted by a partial or full integration failure. This new document would also be used by the Project Management Team when scoping out the impact a project may have across the company.  While the approvals were secured, this project was not fully realized prior to my leave.
